The simple logic behind two steps that have been performed in the same order for centuries.

The hammam's two core steps, the scrub and the foam, are continuations of each other. Their order isn't arbitrary: the scrub prepares the surface, the foam feeds it. Without one, the other loses half its effect.
Skin renews itself constantly; cells in the top layer die and new ones take their place. That dead layer sheds naturally, but never entirely. What remains makes it harder for skin to breathe, blocks pores and leaves the complexion dull.
The kese mitt lifts that heat-softened layer away mechanically. Warmth is decisive here; a scrub done without warming first is both ineffective and irritating. On warmed skin the process is quick and effortless.
For healthy skin, once a month is enough. More often than that thins the protective oil layer. For sensitive skin or eczema, widen the interval and tell your therapist.
After the scrub, skin is open and receptive. This is exactly when the foam massage arrives. Foam raised from olive-oil soap provides the glide, and the fatty acids in the soap stay behind on the cleared surface.
The massage itself isn't forceful manipulation; it is applied in long, soft movements on hot marble. Its effect comes through the nervous system rather than the muscle. Warmth, pressure and steady rhythm together move the body into a released state.
A scrub alone leaves skin clean but unprotected. A foam massage alone leaves the product sitting on the dead layer. That is why the traditional order hasn't changed for centuries: clear first, feed second, close with a clay mask.
The softness after a hammam lasts around three days. A moisturiser extends it; harsh exfoliating products work against it.

All three heat you. None of them does the same thing. The difference is humidity and temperature.
